It had been more than two weeks since No. 14 Iowa State stepped on the basketball court, but it didn’t take too long into its first game back for the team to find its rhythm.

The Cyclones (10-0) defeated Holy Cross 72-50 on Saturday in their first game of the Cyclone Challenge.

Junior Nikki Moody led Iowa State with 14 points and 10 assists in the win with four rebounds. Freshman Jadda Buckley chipped in with 12 points and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

Turning Point

Find itself down 6-0 after the first 1:32, Iowa State responded with a 33-9 run that lasted 12:08. The Cyclones pushed their lead to 37-17 in the first half after a 3-pointer by Brynn Williamson.

X Factor

Nikki Moody — The junior guard earned her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 assists with just one turnover. She also chipped in four rebounds for the Cyclones in 26 minutes of action.

Moody has averaged 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists so far this season.
