Naz Long, DeAndre Kane win Big 12 weekly awards

Naz Long and DeAndre Kane earned Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Week awards on Monday following Iowa State’s 95-62 season-opening victory Sunday, Nov. 10.

Long went 9-of-12 from the field while scoring a career-high 26 points against UNC-Wilmington. After making five 3-pointers all of last season, Long made eight in his first career start Sunday, going 8-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Kane, a fifth-year senior who transferred to Iowa State this season after playing for Marshall, scored 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds and seven assists in his official ISU debut. He shared the newcomer award with Oklahoma’s Ryan Spangler. 

Iowa State returns to the court at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, when it takes on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Hilton Coliseum.
