ISU volleyball completes 2nd-straight sweep, of Texas Tech

The No. 25 ISU volleyball team completed its second-straight sweep of a Big 12 opponent and third-straight victory overall on Wednesday night, defeating Texas Tech 3-0 in Lubbock, Texas.

The win improved the Cyclones (8-4) to 2-0 in Big 12 play. They have won nine of their last 10 sets dating back to their match against Iowa on Sept. 21.

Iowa State took the first set 25-21 before running away with the second and third sets 25-12 and 25-13, respectively.

ISU right side hitter Mackenzie Bigbee led the Cyclones offensively, finishing the night with 17 kills and 14 digs, picking up her first-career double-double. Wednesday night marked the fourth-straight match she has tallied 10 or more kills.

After totaling 39 assists in Saturday’s win against Baylor, sophomore setter Jenelle Hudson finished Wednesday night with 40 assists in Lubbock. Hudson ranks second in the Big 12 in assists, currently averaging 11.33 per set.

Senior libero Kristen Hahn, who won her 14th Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday, finished the night with 12 digs. She still leads the conference in that area with 5.56 digs per set.

The Cyclones next match is at Oklahoma at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
