Victoria Hurtt had 22 kills and Ciara Capezio had her second-straight double-double, but it wasn’t enough for the No. 17 ISU volleyball team as they fell to St. Mary’s 3-1 in Lincoln, Neb. The Cyclones’ (5-3) loss to the Gaels (4-2) was their first road loss of the season.

The Cyclones made things interesting in the fourth set after coming back from a 19-12 deficit at one point to lose the match just 25-23.

Hurtt was not only effective, but also efficient in her attacking an effort with a .462 hit percentage. Capezio had 15 kills and 11 digs.

Jenelle Hudson had a solid match with 46 assists and 11 digs while Kristen Hahn had 20 digs in the loss. The Cyclones also had more digs as a team than the Gaels with 65 to their 56.

This loss comes just one day before Iowa State takes on No. 12 Nebraska (5-1) on their home court at the Devaney Center. Last season, the Cyclones beat the No. 1 Cornhuskers at Hilton Coliseum 3-1.
