Former offensive tackle Carter Bykowski was drafted with the 40th pick (246th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Bykowski, who switched from tight end to offensive line after the 2008 season, started all 13 games at left tackle for the Cyclones in 2012.

Overall, the Eden Prairie, Minn., native has started 17 games out of 34 games played in three years at offensive line.

Bykowski joins A.J. Klein as a Cyclone taken in this year’s draft. Klein was taken with the 187th overall pick (15th in the fifth round) by the Carolina Panthers.

This year’s mark of Cyclones in the draft (two) beats last year’s, which saw only offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele taken by the would-be Baltimore Ravens in the second round with the 60th overall pick.
