The ISU softball team was no-hit and shut out in Norman, Okla., on Sunday, April 28, 2013, falling to the No. 1-ranked Sooners by a final score of 12-0 in five innings.

Oklahoma (43-3, 11-1 Big 12) truly exercised its dominance this weekend. Sunday’s game completed a weekend sweep for the Sooners during which they outscored the Cyclones (19-29, 4-11) by a 44-1 margin.

The loss for the Cyclones pushed their current losing streak to seven games.

The Sooners flew out of the gate on Sunday, putting up 11 runs through the first two innings and then coasting to the finish.

ISU junior Taylor Smith started in the pitcher’s circle for the Cyclones, giving up nine runs in the first inning before being replaced by sophomore Madison Jones.

Jones managed to have a little more success, giving up just one earned run on three hits in three innings of work.

OU pitcher Keilani Ricketts was stellar for the Sooners on Sunday, pitching all five innings without allowing a hit or a run and striking out 10 batters.

In the batter’s box, Ricketts helped her own cause, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

OU first baseman Lauren Chamberlain had a good day offensively, as well, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored.

The Cyclones will move on to play a doubleheader against UMKC in Ames on Monday, April 29. Those games are slated to begin at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
