Tennis team drops weekend opener

The weekend started off in a rough way for the Cyclones.

Iowa State (8-13, 1-7 Big 12) suffered another conference loss April 19, 2013, falling 7-0 at the hands of Kansas State.

The Wildcats (8-10, 2-6 Big 12) took control of the meet right away, winning two of the three doubles matches. Iowa State’s duo of Simona Cacciuttolo and Meghan Cassens won their doubles match 8-6.

Kansas State’s Ivana Kubickova captured the first singles win for Kansas State, defeating Cassens in two sets.

The Wildcats kept their foot on the gas throughout the rest of the meet, winning all of the remaining singles matches en route to a 7-0 shutout victory.

The Cyclones continue their weekend play against Kansas on April 21, 2013.
