With only four games left in the season, the ISU hockey team headed for Oklahoma City for two games against Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma.

On Friday, the Cyclones led the Bronchos 2-0 after the first period and 4-2 after the second before getting outscored 4-1 and ultimately losing 6-5.

Chris Cucullu put the Cyclones on the board first in the first period with a top-shelf goal from the slot. Ryan Reid and Jon Feavel were credited with the assists. That was Reid’s sixth point in seven games.

Later in the period, Joe Bueltel scored a shorthanded goal for the Cyclones to give them the two-goal lead going into the first intermission.

After the Bronchos cut into the Cyclones’ lead just 49 seconds into the second period, ISU forward David Kurbatsky gave the Cyclones another two-goal lead. Austin Parle and J.P. Kascsak were credited with the assists. Parle continued his hot streak and scored a goal of his own later in the period.

The Cyclones fell apart in the third period and gave up four goals. The Bronchos scored two power-play goals in the third period. They were 5-of-6 overall on the power play.

When Shane Khalaf scored the fifth goal for the Bronchos to give them their first lead of the night, Scott Ismond was taken out of the game and replaced by Paul Karus. Ismond stopped 29-of-34 shots and Karus gave up one goal and stopped 5-of-6 shots overall.
