Despite the return of point guard Nikki Moody on Sunday, freshman Emiah Bingley still played a large role in the ISU women’s basketball team’s victroy against North Dakota.

On Monday, Bingley was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week after scoring 16 points in the Cyclones’ 73-34 win against North Dakota.

With Moody back in the lineup after missing the team’s first regular season game with a viral illness, Bingley took on a different role. In the team’s first game the freshman had 11 assists, but on Sunday she acted as a scorer with just one assist to go along with her double-digit point total.

Bingley went 7-of-10 shooting and also had five rebounds as Iowa State advanced to 2-0 in the early season. She is now averaging 11 points and six assists in the first two games.

Iowa State will return to the court on Friday with the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas. The Cyclones will play Loyola Marymount on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
