Cyclones come in seventh at Mercedes Benz Collegiate

The ISU women’s golf team came in seventh out of 16 at the three-day Mercedes Benz Collegiate.

The team shot two rounds of 298 in the first rounds of the meet to put it in eighth place going into the final round.

Now ranked No. 14 in the nation, Iowa State finished in seventh place with a total 54-hole score of 886 after a third-round score of 290.

Penn State took first, followed by Tennessee in second and Purdue in third.

Sasikarn On-lam had the best score of the ISU team at 218, placing her 11th individually. This was her best placing of the season.

Despite this, the team placed at its lowest slot of the season.

Punpaka Phuntumabamrung, Cajsa Persson, Chonlada Chayanun and Prima Thammaraks also competed in this meet in Knoxville, Tenn.

Iowa State will compete again Oct. 26-28 at the Landfill Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
