The pajama relay was created in 1940 and became a popular activity for students at the Homecoming pep rally. 

Women’s residences participated in the relays, but men would represent the women’s residences in the relays. 

The men would wear oversized pajamas and race against one another. 

Sororities and women’s residences would be awarded trophies.
