Lisa Uhl Returns to Iowa State for qualifier meet

With each passing lap, the crowd came to a small roar. That roar was for the four-time national champion Lisa Uhl.

Formerly known as Lisa Koll, Uhl paced around the track, effortlessly it seemed, for ten laps in the women’s 3,000-meter run. Uhl won the race with a sweltering time of 9:08.68.

Uhl said she could still find things to improve on.

“I’m not as sharp as I thought I was, but aerobically I felt fine,” Uhl said. “I don’t have any turn over right now, but it’s a good place to start to go back to strength and prepare for the outdoor season now.”

Uhl will have a couple meets out east before the Olympic trials in Oregon in June.

“Really after that, I’ll have a 5k at the Prefontaine meet, and then the Olympic trials,” Uhl said.
