Iowa State advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of Wisconsin Milwaukee. The Cyclones took the first set 25-19 and then squeaked out the second and third set by the score of 25-23.

Junior middle back Jamie Straube led the Cyclones attack with 15 kills and four block assists. Freshman outside hitter Hannah Willms chipped in 10 kills and senior outside hitter Carly Jenson finished with nine.

Sophomore middle back Tenisha Matlock contributed six kills.

The victory got the Cyclones over a hump as they were eliminated in the first round of last year’s NCAA tournament. Iowa State, who earned the No.4 overall seed for the tournament will take on Miami Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.

Miami advanced to the second round with a 3-1 victory over Northern Illinois.
