ISU diver Sarah Nelson has been named the Big 12 Diver of the Week, based on her performance against Iowa.

The Cyclone swimmers squared off against in-state rival Iowa on Friday, Dec. 9 for the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series and fell 126-174 at Beyer pool.

The loss marked Iowa State’s second dual meet of the season, with both losses coming at home.

But in the loss Nelson shined with new career best performances. She finished second in the one-meter with a score of 275.32 and second again in the three-meter with a score of 290.93 as well.

Nelson’s three-meter score was also the ninth best in ISU history.

The accomplishment is Nelsons second in her career and first of the season, putting her next to Tein Tran and Linda Wagner as the only Cyclones to win multiple Diver of the Week awards.

Nelson and the rest of the Cyclone divers will be back in action again at the Georgia Diving Invitational on Jan. 3-5. The ISU swimmers will see the pool again when they go on their winter training trip in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Dec. 31-Jan. 7.
