Iowa State lost to archrival Iowa, 4-1, Friday night in Iowa City after a pair of early goals gave the Hawkeyes a quick momentum surge.

Freshman forward Cloe Lacasse scored two goals in the first 12 minutes for Iowa and senior defender Rachel Blakesley added another for a 3-0 lead just 32 minutes into the match.

Sophomore Alex Melin continued the Hawkeye scoring 18 minutes into the second half to increase the Hawkeye lead to four.

ISU junior Megan Long put the Cyclones on the board in the 77th minute when sophomore midfielder Emily Goldstein placed a corner kick into the box and Long scored on the header.

The loss is the fourth in a row for the Cyclones and increases Iowa’s record to 6-0. Iowa State heads back to Ames to take on Loyola-Chicago on Sunday at 1 and a special 9/11 tribute will take place prior to the start.
