Iowa State beat the South Dakota State, 1-0, Friday night at the ISU Soccer Complex.

The game was an up and down battle where both teams exchanged scoring chances but Iowa State still managed to outshoot South Dakota State, 9-2, in the first half.

Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the first half, but sophomore forward Jennifer Dominguez put the Cyclones on the board six minutes into the second half.

Dominguez sprinted down the field with the ball while fending off a pair of Jackrabbit defenders in the process and got a shot off as she slid to the ground that snuck past the diving keeper for the score.

Iowa State held its ground on defense for the remainder of the game, clearing out the ball when it got into the box, and freshman goalkeeper Andrea Swanson collected her second career shutout.

The Cyclones head to Toledo on Sunday at noon to close out their non-conference season before taking on Texas A&M on the road next weekend.
