Former ISU point guard Diante Garrett did not hear his name called Thursday at the 2011 NBA Draft, despite being projected by many to be a middle second-round prospect.

The Milwaukee native ranked in the top 100 nationally in scoring (17.1), assists (6.1) and steals (1.7) in his senior campaign as a Cyclone.

Garrett’s chances of making an NBA roster are still very much alive, as he will have an opportunity to attend mini-camps as a free agent.

Due to the looming NBA lockout, it is believed that those mini-camps will begin early next week.

Garrett was one of the most highly regarded prospects not to be drafted, as ESPN’s Jay Bilas ranked him second only to Ohio State University’s David Lighty on the list of the best remaining players.
