Currica shines at Kansas relays

Senior Jamal Currica finished second in the decathlon event at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan. on Thursday. He finished with total of 6,577 points.

Teran Walford of Nebraska won the event with a total 6,586 points.

Currica won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.15 and in the pole vault with a distance of 13 feet, seven inches and one quarter inch. He placed second in the discus and third in the 1,500-meter run and the javelin.

On the womens’ side, Jordan Andreassen place fourth in the heptathlon. She placed third in the javelin and fourth in the long jump event.

Freshman Jenny Dillon placed second in the javelin.

Rachel Butler of Nebraska was the overall winner for the heptathlon with a total of 4,948 points.
