Iowa State earned a No. 7 seed in the NCAA tournament and will face Marist College in the opening round in Durham, N.C.

The game is set for Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m.

The Cyclones finished the regular season 22-10 overall and 9-7 in the conference. They beat Nebraska in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament before losing to Kansas State.

Marist, located in Pougkeepsie, N.Y., comes into the tournament as a No. 10 seed and on a 26-game win streak. Its overall record stands at 30-2.

Its winning streak is currently the nation’s longest.

The Red Foxes are the champions of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference after beating Loyola (MD) in the MAAC championship game.

Guard play has been key for the Red Foxes all season. They are lead by senior Erica Allenspach and junior Corielle Yard, who average 14 and 11 points per game.

Iowa State is 16-11 all-time in the NCAA tournament and has advanced to at least the second round the past four trips. It is just one of 20 teams in the nation that have been to the NCAA tournament in the past five seasons. The Cyclones are also one of five teams that are looking for their third straight Sweet 16 appearance.

The matchup will be the first ever between the two teams and Iowa State is 4-0 all time against teams from the MAAC.
