The ISU women’s team placed fourth Sunday at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Aubrey Devine Track.

The women’s team earned 89 points, a mere four points behind Texas’ third place win. Rather than time, points are awarded to each university based on the athlete’s placing in the event.

Lisa Koll won the 5,000 meters in 15:22:42. Her time not only earned her first place in the event, but broke the meet record by 30 seconds. Koll finished her career with nine Big 12 individual titles.

Iowa State had the top three finishers in the event, with Semehar Tesfaye, 16:08.67, coming in second, and Betsy Saina, 16:10.69, placing third.

ISU women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Monique Hawkins, Jenna Caffrey, Callan Jacobson and Lashawn Wright placed fourth in the 4 x100-meter relay.

In the men’s division, the Cyclones finished 12th with 39 points. University of Nebraska won the men’s competition with 118 points.

Hillary Bor won the steeplechase in 8:47.82. Brandon Rooney, 3:44.62, was third in the 1,500-meter run. The Cyclones placed third in the 4×100-meter relay, finishing with a time of 40.96. Also, Kiel Uhl, 14:09.92, was fifth in the 5,000-meter run.

Some of Iowa State’s top competitors will compete at the NCAA Regional meet at the end of the month.
