City of Ames discusses convention space

James Heggen

Some think Ames needs more “flat space.”

The city of Ames will be holding a meeting tonight in the Scheman Building regarding the issue of flat space, which refers to the amount of space available for conventions coming to the city.

City of Ames Public Relations Officer Susan Gwiasda said there are complaints of an insufficient amount of this type of space and, as a result, losing opportunities to hold these events in the city.

The Ames Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will be giving a presentation from a study about flat space needs. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in room 275 of the Scheman Building.
