Coming off their fourth straight loss, the second four game losing streak of the season, the Cyclones’ final home series of the season doesn’t get any easier as they welcome the Texas Longhorns.

Both games are at the Southwest Athletic Complex with a 2 p.m. start on Saturday and a 4 p.m. start on Sunday.

Texas enters the series with a 37-10 record overall and are 10-2 in the Big 12.

The Longhorns are coming off a series split with Oklahoma State. They won the first game handily, 9-1, but then were edged by the Cowgirls 1-0 in game two.

Texas is led offensively by sophomore third basemen Nadia Taylor and senior outfielder Tallie Thrasher. On the season, Taylor is  batting .399 with 28 RBIs and 7 home runs. Thrasher is batting .388 with 27 RBIs and a team leading 10 home runs.

Blaire Luna has also been a star on the mound for the Longhorns this season. Through 188 innings pitched, she’s accumulated 24-6 with a .98 era and 318 strikeouts.

The Cyclones’ starter is likely to be Rachel Zabriskie. Zabriskie has struck out 10 batters in the Cyclones past four games including a seven strikeout performance in the Cyclones’ series opening loss against Missouri.

Senior catcher Alex Johnson will try to extend her hot hitting streak, coming off a two home run series against Missouri in her last outing.

Senior third basemen Courtney Wray is also swinging a hot bat for the Cyclones. She went 3-4 in both losses against Missouri, logged two runs and two RBIs for the series.

Sunday’s game is the final home game of the season and will honor seniors Courtney Wray, Alex Johnson, Kelsey Kidwell, Sydni Jones, and Amanda Bradberry.
