After finishing 11th at the Big 12 Championships last year, the Cyclones have begun to hit their stride with a ninth-place finish at this year’s Big 12 meet — the team’s best finish for the men since 2000. Texas took home its third consecutive title this weekend totaling 115 points compared to the Cyclones’ 49. Although Iowa State finished ninth there were several impressive individual performances.

Hillary Bor: Bor finished second at Big 12’s with a time of 4:05. Bor’s best time this season is 4:04.58, which does not qualify him for nationals.

Guor Marial: Marial also finished second in his respective event, the 5,000-meter run. He ran a time of 14:11, which does not provisionally qualify him. Marial, however, has already reached the provisional mark of 14:10 after running a 14:06 at the ISU Classic.

Kiel Uhl: Uhl, running alongside his teammate in the 5,000, finished third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:12. Uhl, like Marial, has already provisionally qualified for nationals after running 14:08 at the ISU Classic.

James Galvan: Galvan finished seventh in the 800-meter run, with a time of 1:52.07. Galvan, along with teammate Elphas Sang, has already qualified provisionally for nationals. Galvan also has the 11th-best 800-meter run time in the nation.

Luke Pinkelman: Pinkelman continues to improve with every meet as he finished second in the shot put, throwing 17.90 meters, which betters his 17.77 throw that provisionally qualified him at the ISU Open.

Zac Brouillette: Brouillette finished third in the weight throw this weekend, throwing provisional qualifying mark of19.85 meters.Brouillette has already passed the provisional mark and continues to improve his chances of competing at nationals.
