DES MOINES (AP) — Authorities say a Coralville woman has been charged in the death of one son and the injury of another in a secluded area of northeast Iowa.

Buchanan County Attorney Allan VanderHart says 35-year-old Michelle Kehoe was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, attempted murder and child endangerment causing serious injury.

Kehoe’s 2-year-old son was found dead near the family’s minivan on Monday. Michelle Kehoe and her 7-year-old son Sean were seriously injured.

Michelle Kehoe remains hospitalized and VanderHart says she won’t be taken into custody until her medical treatment is complete.

Kehoe and her sons were discovered after she walked to a nearby house and sought help.

VanderHart has declined to speculate on a motive for the crimes.
