Boheme Bistro may have potential buyer

The Ames hangout spot, the Boheme Bistro, 2900 West St., could be undergoing some changes during this spring semester.

Owner Peter Sherman said in an e-mail that the landlord of the building which houses the Boheme may lease it to a party who wants to continue the business.

Sherman also said he plans to meet with a party interested in buying the restaurant in the near future.

The lease for the restaurant and bar is not set in stone, and the potential buyers were not identified as of press time.

Sherman, who is also an associate professor of aerospace engineering and statistics, said he will eventually go to teach somewhere outside the country.

“I will pursue possibilities to obtain visiting faculty positions as early as next fall,” Sherman said. “All overseas, of course.”

The Boheme has had a long-standing of presenting visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a multicultural dining and dancing experience.

It is unique due to the artwork that covers the walls of the bistro, its World Beat Nights featuring dance music from around the world and a wide variety of dishes from around the world.

The Boheme opened in 1998. A few potential buyers have approached Sherman over the past several months, but no deal was ever cemented.

Sherman has said the reason for selling the Boheme was that he wanted to move on, not because of financial problems.
