Cyclone hockey gets swept in opening series

Cyclone Hockey, ranked ninth in the nation, stumbled in its CSCHL opening game on the road getting swept by fifth-ranked Ohio 3-2 on Friday and 9-2 on Saturday.

The Cyclones could not overcome penalty trouble in either game. Ohio scored eight of their goals in the series on power plays.

Coach Al Murdoch said he thought the Cyclones’ goaltenders showed their youth in this series, but he also thought they showed some promise.

“With two freshmen and a sophomore, I think they will get better,” Murdoch said. “Johansson played well on Friday, giving us every chance to win.”
