Cyclones break losing streak, defeat Colorado

The ISU volleyball team got back to its winning ways Wednesday night, beating Colorado 3-2 (24-30, 30-24, 25-30, 30-19, 15-13) in Boulder, Colo.

It wasn’t pretty, as the Cyclones needed five games to beat the last-place team in the Big 12, but a win is a win.

The Cyclones (12-8, 6-4 Big 12) were led on offense by senior middle blocker Erin Boeve’s 19 kills. Senior Lauren Cummings added 16 kills, and senior Jen Malcom and sophomore Victoria Henson chipped in 15 and 14, respectively.

On defense, freshman libero Ashley Mass continued her stellar play, leading Iowa State with 21 digs. Sophomore setter came up with 18 digs of her own to go along with her 55 assists, and senior Laura Cady added 10 digs.

The win breaks a three-match losing streak for the Cyclones.
