ISU freshman diver Tien Tran improved on her performance in the 3-meter springboard finals from prelims and finished just outside of the top 10 at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships Friday in Austin, Texas.

Tran’s score of 238.35 put her 15th after prelims but did qualify her for the finals. Her score of 506.15 in the finals moved her up four places and left her just four places out of the top seven, who qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The Big 12 Conference had four of the seven national qualifiers, three of them coming from the host Texas Longhorns.

Tran and Haley Haynes will compete tomorrow on the 1-meter springboard at 10 a.m. They will also compete in the platform competition Sunday at 10 a.m.
