Additional season ticket plans added

The tickets went fast. Really fast.

After a huge response from fans for $99 end zone season tickets, the ISU athletic department has made two new season ticket plans available, in addition to the regular $260 tickets.

The 2,800 end zone season tickets took just one month to sell out.

“The success of our end zone ticket sales promotion was off the charts,” ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard said in a press release. “Our initial sales goal was to sell out the entire inventory of end zone season tickets by the spring game. Cyclone fans acted quickly and the allotment was gone in just 28 days.”

The turnout was so impressive, Pollard said the department couldn’t keep up with the demand.

“There were more people that we had to turn away because we were out of them,” he said. “It’s going to be better for us to build a season ticket base.”

One of the season ticket addendums converts sections K and L (upper deck, southeast corner) into a full-season price of $150. There are seven home games this season.

“We must capitalize on the excitement and energy surrounding Cyclone football for 2006,” Pollard said in the release. “We’ve moved quickly to identify and create two new opportunities for our fans to enjoy a full season of games for an affordable price.”

The other promotion offers hillside season tickets, which cost $125. If individual tickets were purchased every game, hillside seating would add up to $190.

“There is a special atmosphere in those sections that fans want to be a part of,” Pollard said in the release. “Purchasing a season hillside ticket eliminates the need to wait in line for tickets on game day and there is also a substantial cost savings for committing to the full season.”

The decision to make hillside season tickets available wasn’t a tough one.

“It was more just a question of, why don’t we try hillside tickets and see what happens?” Pollard said.

Pricing for the season tickets was determined based on previous experience, and the prices for sections K and L is the same as season tickets on the opposite side.

Current ISU football season ticket holders have until May 5 to renew their tickets.

ISU officials have recently said Cyclone football may eclipse 30,000 tickets, which would be a first in season ticket sales.

“We’ve never achieved that level for season tickets,” Pollard said in the release. “If we can renew our ticketholders from a year ago and add these new customers, it will be a landmark accomplishment for our department to surpass 30,000 ticket sales for the first time.”

Pollard said the response to sales has been encouraging, and ISU fans have already spoken volumes.

“I’m excited,” he said. “It tells me they’re out there – we have to find a way to reach out to them.”

The new promotion marks the first time hillside seats have been sold as season tickets in Jack Trice Stadium. Iowa State’s spring game is scheduled for 1 p.m. April 15.
