Liberals inconsistent on almost every issue

Zach Calef

After almost a decade of liberalism and big government, the country is on the right track at last.

Is it because people have realized Clinton was not God and the booming economy he is supposed to be responsible for was falling through the roof before he left office?

Or is it because the party of the left lied to the American public for over eight straight years?

Maybe it is simply because Americans don’t like “in your face” government telling them what to do, when to do it and how to do it.

It is possible all of the above have led many Americans to the right of the spectrum but I’m willing to bet it was something much, much bigger, the hypocrisy of the left.

It doesn’t matter what issue you look at; you can always find some sort of mixed thinking on this side of the spectrum.

Let’s start with an issue almost every single liberal in this country believes in – the woman’s right to abortion. The lovely pro-choice side must be in another world on this one.

First of all, conservatives are selfish because we want their hard-earned money to be put back in our pockets, not the bloated government’s.

That sounds fine and dandy until you really think about selfishness, like killing your unborn child because you were mature enough to have sex but not mature enough to face the consequences of having sex.

Abortion is by far more selfish than simply wanting the money I worked hard for.

What about equal rights and abortion? You can’t honestly believe in both.

Liberals say women should have the right to control their own body and the right to choose to have an abortion.

Yet a man should have no say in whether or not to keep the child he helped create. Is that equal? Neither is taking away all of a child’s rights guaranteed by the Constitution when you abort it. So do liberals really want equal treatment?

Let’s put the death penalty up to abortion. According to liberals, it is not OK to execute, in other words kill, a person who has gone on a killing spree, but it is OK to kill an innocent, unborn child.

The abortion parties still run into problems. Abortion is considered a woman controlling her own body. Then why isn’t prostitution legal in most states?

The issues go much further than abortion.

Take for instance the group of left-wing nuts that visited the area just a few days ago. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were in Ames protesting the mistreatment of sheep.

These people have lost their minds. They honestly think the sheep need to be treated better. This is not a surprise coming from the same group who used the moronic slogan “Drink beer, not milk.”

These people think animals are more important than people. So much so that I think if there was a car accident involving one car and a deer and the first person on the scene was a member of PETA, you better hope you are the deer.

I honestly think these people would save the deer before the human. And the left is more compassionate, remember.

How about school vouchers. According to liberals, school vouchers are bad because they violate a separation of church and state. Well, the phrase “separation of church and state” never actually appears in the Constitution (neither does education), but we can’t hold these people to that high of standards.

So look at it like this: If school vouchers violate separation of church and state, do grants for students to go to private, religious colleges do the same? Not according to them.

One of my personal favorites is the typical liberal stance on drugs. The same people who sue “big tahbacco” think marijuana should be legal and unregulated.

I do find it hypocritical that tobacco is legal and marijuana isn’t, but to suggest we should legalize one and not regulate it while the other is being sued into bankruptcy is just stupid.

Both tobacco and marijuana should be legal; it is not anybody’s business what you do to your own body, but the federal government can make regulations because the Constitution grants it the power to regulate interstate trade.

As for the law that does not allow convicted drug offenders to receive federal aid, it is a stupid law but nonetheless one that is very easy to avoid breaking. If you want free money, don’t do drugs.

Liberals are arguing this the wrong way; the problem is not the law forbidding aid for school, it is the fact that a person cannot choose what to do to their own body. Sounds kind of like abortion, doesn’t it.

The ironic stances are not the only confusing part of liberalism; just look at the wide range of different supporters directly at odds with one another.

This side of the spectrum includes feminists and Bill Clinton; that makes a lot of sense.

The list goes on: You have environmentalists who would pretty much like to see an end to the automobile on the same side as the United Auto Workers, homosexuals tend to vote for liberals in huge numbers while the Irish Catholic have traditionally been Democrats.

As for blacks, they, too, vote Democratic in overwhelming numbers, which is ironic in some places. Senator Robert Byrd, D-WV, is a former member of the KKK, but I forgot, it is the conservatives who are bigots.

With all this nonsense of the left, it is hard to believe we just had eight years of Clinton, it looks like America is finally wising up.
