Randy Webb is on the right track by taking Sam Wong’s letter literally.

By not entertaining Wong’s letter as ironic, Webb has struck a blow against one of communication’s most dangerous devices.

The problem with ironic works is that they seem to say exactly the opposite of what they mean.

How confusing is that?

We can’t seriously be expected to believe that what Wong means is precisely in contradiction with what he says.

The use of this type of strategy can only lead to confusion for those of us only operating with “half a mind.”

Basically, Mr. Webb, good work. You made good points about the need to be open-minded and Mr. Wong presented the opposite of those points.

Who should get credit as a true champion of tolerance? I think the answer is clear.
