Danger Bob singer shares his Halloween history

For the past four of five Halloweens, Danger Bob frontman Karl Michelbach and his band have played in the lamest possible places on the night.

This year will be different.

“The M-Shop is really one of my favorite places to play,” Michelbach, who plays guitar and sings lead vocals, said.

The four-piece group from Lawrence, Kan. has been around for six years and describes itself as a spectacle of comedic pop.

“We try to put on a spectacle every time we play,” Michelbach said. “We make music that doesn’t take itself to seriously.”

On Halloween the band plans to invade The M-Shop with a go-go cage and a bubble machine.

“We’ve promised a bubble machine before, but it never showed up,” Michelbach said.

With Halloween just around the corner, Michelbach recalled a costume he wore a few years back.

Michelbach once dressed as Brit-rocker Liam Gallagher of Oasis for Halloween.

His favorite candy for the special day is, you guessed it, candy corn.

“It sucks 364 days out of the year,” Michelbach says. “But it’s good on Halloween.”

Prizes of both M-Shop and Danger Bob merchandise will be handed out at this weekend’s show for the best costumes. The grand prize is two free tickets to every M-Shop show for the rest of the year.

Danger Bob will join up with Ultimate Fakebook at The M-Shop Saturday at 9 p.m. for The Shop’s Halloween Extravaganza. Tickets are $5, $4 for students.
