The Miami Dolphins announced yesterday that the team had waived cornerback Emmanuel McDaniel and filled his spot on the roster with practice-squad wide receiver Todd Doxzon.

Doxzon, formerly the starting quarterback of the Iowa State Cyclones, was added to an active NFL roster for the first time since his collegiate eligibility expired at the end of the 1996 season.

In four seasons with the Cyclones, Todd contributed to both the passing and running games, competing in 36 contests.

On the ground, Doxzon carried 364 times in his collegiate career for 1,105 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Through the air, Todd completed 244 of 443 passes over four seasons for 3,158 yards. He threw for 21 TDs and was intercepted 17 times.

The Dolphins host the St. Louis Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
