A Saturday pre-game tailgate is one of the many activities planned for visiting parents and families of Iowa State students this weekend.

The tailgate, sponsored by the Student Alumni Association Family Weekend Committee, will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., said Dave Critchlow, adviser of the Family Weekend Committee.

Critchlow said the committee is comprised of nine students.

Student co-chairs for the committee are Wes Gray, junior in exercise and sport science, and Chad Rieck, junior in agricultural studies.

Critchlow said the tailgate will be held in the southwest corner of ISU parking Lot 4A.

ISU families are welcome to attend if they made reservations, he said.

The tailgate invitations went out by mail to ISU families from the Student Alumni Association, and reservations were accepted through Sept. 14.

“We are expecting about 600 people and are pleased with the turnout,” Critchlow said.

“The event is organized by the Family Weekend Committee and funded by the Parent’s Association,” he said.

The price for the tailgate is $6 for adults, $4 for children and $5 for members of the Student Collegiate Alumni Association.

Critchlow said food for the tailgate will be catered by Hy-Vee Food Store.

“The menu includes brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, beans and potato salad,” he said.
