Two Ames men were charged with sexual assault and providing alcohol to a minor after hosting a social gathering on Friday, April 26, officials said.

Maury McDonald, 25, and Rudolph Evans, 27, both of 815 6th St., were charged with making alcohol available to a minor and sexual abuse in the fourth degree.

According to the Ames Police Department, a 15-year-old female was at their residence where it was alleged that she was given alcohol by McDonald and then later sexually assaulted by Evans.

Ames Police Sgt. Jim Robinson said no others are expected to be charged at this point. He also said no other people were known to be subjected to the same behavior as was allegedly experienced by the juvenile female.

Evans was arrested on a charge of sexual abuse, a Class C felony, Saturday and was transferred to the Story County Jail in Nevada the next day. He was released Monday on a $1,800 bond. If Evans is convicted, he will face a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $5,000 fine or both. McDonald was also arrested Saturday on a charge of making alcohol available to a minor, a serious misdemeanor. He was released on a $1,200 bond on Sunday. If he is convicted, he will face up to one year in prison, a $1,000 fine or both.
