The Ames Holiday Inn Gateway Center has received a national award for excellence.

The Gateway Center, which is owned by the ISU Foundation, won the Holiday Inn Worldwide 1995 Quality Excellence Award. The award recognizes the top 215 hotels in the nation for their performance in product quality and customer service. Holiday Inn Worldwide owns more than 2,000 hotels nationally.

“It all boils down to customer service,” said Geri Kennedy, rooms divisions manager and Director of Marketing for Gateway Center.

She said the Ames Holiday Inn rates above other Holiday Inns because of the way they treat their customers.

A ceremony was held to honor the award-winning hotels during the annual Holiday Inn Worldwide Conference in San Antonio, Texas. David Percival, president of the Gateway Center, accepted the award for the Gateway Center. Honored hotels receive a trophy, and all the employees receive pins.
