2 confess car theft to Ames police

A Minnesota man and a juvenile who claimed they stole a car, turned themselves in to Ames police early Friday morning.

Norman Buckingham, 18, and an unidentified 17-year-old, both from Plymouth, Minn., called police from the Starlite Village Best Western Motel in Ames at about midnight Friday.

Police located a 1993 Ford Mustang valued at $15,000 that was stolen from a Plymouth car dealership. Buckingham was taken into custody and charged with first degree theft. The juvenile was cited and released to his parents.
