Ames cable talk show “Another Freakin’ Day in Paradise,” kicked off last week and will continue through the semester. Longtime talk show host Starlene Rankin will host the show with co-producer Paula Airhart.

“We covered a lot of things last week, including alcohol abuse,” Rankin said. “We plan on discussing important cultural issues in our community, state and country.”

According to Rankin, some of the specific issues they plan to cover include stress, addictions, music cultures, age differences, environmental issues and sensuality. Rankin will begin the show with a question or request and take off from there.

“We may do something special occasionally,” Rankin said. “But I really just want to concentrate on the callers and keep the dialogue flowing.”

This will be Rankin’s fifth talk show on APATV. Her past shows include “Sex, Drugs, Rock and Extinction,” “Friday Night Alive,” “Kickin’ It in Ames,” and “The Star Show.”

“My previous shows have been well received, and this show is formatted similarly.” Rankin added. “I just hope people are eager to make calls.”

Callers may call in at 232-8062. “Another Freakin’ Day in Paradise” can be found on channel 10 on Friday nights at 11 p.m. “This is a good opportunity to use to the technology available to communicate with our city about real issues.” Rankin said.
