Pence, Scott, Ramaswamy and Hutchinson return to Iowa this week

Visits from Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, Mike Pence and Asa Hutchinson will continue the 2024 presidential campaign trail in Iowa.

These Republican candidates are hosting a variety of events across the state throughout the week to interact with Iowa voters and promote their presidential campaigns.

Tim Scott

Scott is the first to visit Iowa this week, with a town hall meeting in Van Meter on Wednesday. The South Carolina senator is running for president to provide conservative and faith-based leadership, according to his campaign website.

  • Wednesday: Town Hall Meeting, Veterans Reception Center, Van Meter. Doors will open for this event at 4:30 p.m. Scott is expected to speak from 5:15–6:15 p.m.

Vivek Ramaswamy

Ramaswamy will be in Iowa on Thursday to host a rally in West Des Moines. Ramaswamy is a pharmaceutical entrepreneur running on his America First 2.0 platform, which includes focusing on independence from Chinese relations and boosting the American economy. Ramaswamy’s 25 policy commitments can be found on his campaign website.

  • Thursday, Oct. 5: “Vektoberfest” Rally at Jamie Hurd Amphitheater, West Des Moines. The event is scheduled from 4–9 p.m. There will be live music, food trucks and activities for families, as well as a drone show.

Mike Pence

Former Vice President Pence is attending seven events in Iowa over the upcoming weekend to promote his presidential campaign. His platform, The Pence Plan, primarily focuses on inflation, energy expansion, foreign policy and promoting American values.

  • Friday:
    • Fremont County Meet and Greet at Penn Drug Co. Coffee Shop, Sidney. The event is scheduled for 8:30–9:30 a.m.
    • Ringgold County Meet and Greet at RAYR Market, Mount Ayr. The event is scheduled for 1–2 p.m.
    • Adair County Meet and Greet at Olive Branch Restaurant, Greenfield. This event is scheduled for 4:30–5:30 p.m.
    • Atlantic High School Football Game Coin Toss at Atlantic High School, Atlantic. This event is scheduled for 6:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 7:
    • Mills County Town Hall at Bloom Senior Center, Glenwood. This event begins at 9:00 a.m.
    • Montgomery County Town Hall at Pizza Ranch, Red Oak. This event begins at 11:15 a.m.
    • Adams County Meet and Greet at Corning Opera House, Corning. This event begins at 1:30 p.m.

Asa Hutchinson

Former Arkansas Gov. Hutchinson is visiting Iowa on Saturday to attend Oktoberfest in Ottumwa. Hutchinson’s platform focuses on prosperity, strength and freedom, according to his campaign website. 

  • Saturday, Oct. 7: Ottumwa Oktoberfest, Ottumwa. This event is open to the public and goes from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
