In the last regular season tournament of the spring, Iowa State took third place in the Silverado Showdown. The Showdown was hosted by the University of Oregon and featured a handful of top-ranked teams.
Amongst those teams were the No. 31 Cyclones, who beat the likes of No. 3 Oregon, No. 18 Arizona, No. 37 Cal, No. 45 San Jose State and No. 48 Oregon State.
Leading the way for Iowa State was freshman Nichakorn Pinprayoon. The Thailand native tied for eighth at two-under-par. Three more Cyclones finished in the top 25, including freshman Alexandra Vidal (T-11), junior Pammy Chookaew (T-17) and junior Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn (T-25).
Round By Round
Round 1. Chookaew had the best opening round for Iowa State at two-under-par. Par for the course was 72.
Round 2. Pinprayoon took the lead of the team and shot a four-under-par.
Round 3. Vidal had the best third round with one-under-par.
Next up for Iowa State is the Big 12 Championship meet in Houston from April 15-17. The Cyclones will have some tough competition from fellow ranked teams but pose a threat to take the title.
