Iowa State announced one player’s commitment and another’s departure this week.
The Cyclones added former Indiana offensive lineman Austin Barrett on Saturday, and linebacker Jack Sadowsky V entered his name in the portal Monday.
Austin Barrett
Austin Barrett, who stands 6-feet-6-inches and 308 pounds, played in five games last season as a freshman in Indiana’s run to the College Football Playoff.
His brother, Dylan Barrett, is also an Iowa State offensive lineman.
With Wade Helton and Brent Helton’s departure from the offensive line room already announced, Austin Barrett will look to fill a piece of that gap.
To land Austin Barrett, Iowa State beat the likes of fellow Big 12 schools Kansas State and Oklahoma State, along with Louisville and Western Michigan.
Austin Barrett has three years of eligibility remaining.
Jack Sadowsky V
Sadowsky was a crucial piece of the Cyclone linebacker room last season when it fought through a slew of injuries.
As a sophomore, he played in 10 games, including the Big 12 Championship and recorded 29 tackles, 10 solo and 19 assisted. He also added one sack and recovered a fumble.
His top performance came against Utah, when he landed a career-high seven tackles and got his lone sack of the season.
In his freshman campaign, Sadowsky had 33 tackles in 12 games. Of those, 15 were solo and 18 were assisted.
The top performance of his freshman season was when he recorded six tackles against Kansas.
Sadowsky has two years of eligibility remaining.
