Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime going right now, and season three has absolutely confirmed that.
The most recent episode focused on Megumi and Panda fighting against Kirara while Yuji tries to convince Hakari to help them in the culling games.
The most interesting thing about this episode is how well directed this show is. It is doing things that I have not seen in any other anime, the transitions, the editing, the way that they are filming the explanations of these new insane powers, it is all so incredible to watch. MAPPA obviously gave the Jujutsu Kaisen team a humongous budget, but seeing how they use it week in and week out is so cool.
The episode itself mainly focuses on the Megumi and Panda vs Kirara fight. I found this to be just electric. It might not be the most flashy animated fight (I don’t know how they will ever top the Maki episode), but it was still awesome. That being said, it is still properly flashy, and the choreography with MAPPA shows is always so good. The best part of this episode isn’t even the fight, however, and I think it is why the reputation that Jujutsu Kaisen has is so high.
Yuji’s speech about being a cog, while a bit on the nose, really does a great job of letting the character go through some development, as the last few episodes have been more plot-focused. The way that he portrays himself as just some small piece in the ever-growing world of Jujutsu Kaisen really makes you feel for him, and I found it to be incredibly effective.
The best thing about this episode is that now that they have recruited Kirara and Hakari, it is switching from setup into the full escalation of the culling games, and I cannot wait to see what happens next week.
