The Cyclone men’s basketball team landed a class of 2027 6-foot-6 four-star commit out of Slinger High School in Slinger, Wisconsin, Jack Kohnen.
Kohnen was ranked as the 31st recruit in the 2027 class and had a fantastic season for Slinger this last season, posting 20.6 points per game, along with 11.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
Kohnen chose Iowa State over several other strong Division I teams, such as Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana and Notre Dame.
Kohnen’s commitment marks one of the highest-rated recruits to commit to Iowa State in school history. The guard has a strong ability to put the ball on the floor and slash, along with being able to knock down threes, and can certainly carve out a role for himself at Iowa State.
The four-star joins the other 2027 recruits, Donovan Davis and Josiah Harrington, for the 2027-28 season. As of now, 247 Sports has ranked the 2027 recruiting class for Iowa State No. 1 in the country, giving Iowa State fans an exciting view ahead for hoops.
