Ames candidates listen to a question during the Candidate Forum

Candidates for mayor and city council will engage in their second forum on Wednesday.

At 5:30 p.m. cookies, cider and cocoa will be served at the Ames Public Library at 515 Douglas Avenue. At 6:30 p.m. the forum will begin and run until 8:30 p.m.

Presented by Ames Progressive Alliance, the forum will have eight other groups participating. Amongst those groups are Youth and Shelter Services, Black Lives Matter: Iowa, Ames PrideFest, Ames Bicycle Coalition, Ames Adult Education & Literacy Programs, National Alliance for Mental Illness Central Iowa, Youth in Schools Action Team and The Green Umbrella.

The forum is free and “supervised activities for children age 4 and up” are available during the forum.

Although a list of topics is not available, at the prior forum, candidates discussed tax abatement for businesses to move to Ames, sexual assault, occupancy laws and social divides.
