The Cyclones have found it tough sailing this spring when trying to grab big-man commitments.

But on Thursday, they found success.

Texas-San Antonio graduate transfer Jeff Beverly committed to Iowa State on Thursday evening, according to multiple media reports. Beverly is a 6-foot-6, 250-pound forward and is immediately eligible for the 2017-18 season.

He will bolster a slim Cyclone front court that is still reeling from the losses of graduated forwards Deonte Burton, Darrell Bowie and Merrill Holden.

Beverly averaged 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds in 26.9 minutes per game for Texas-San Antonio last season.

The Cyclones still have Solomon Young, who impressed as a freshman last season, and Cameron Lard, who is coming off a redshirt season, in line to grab playing time in the upcoming year.

Coach Steve Prohm now has two scholarships remaining for next season. He entered the spring with four open slots, but grabbed commitments from Beverly and Virginia Tech guard transfer Marial Shayok, who will be eligible in 2018-19.
