Ethan Lindley, a senior in marketing and AMD and current PR and Marketing Director for this year’s show, wanted something different during his years at Iowa State.“I decided to join The Fashion Show out of a whim,” said Lindley. “Now I feel like The Fashion Show is my own baby, my own organization.”I just remember the opening of the [2015] show when Black Skinhead [by Kanye West] started playing and curtains rose — it was such a bad-ass moment,” said Lindley.

Ethan Lindley was born in Tennessee but grew up in Cedar Rapids. A senior in marketing and AMD, Lindley wanted something different during his years at Iowa State.

“I decided to join The Fashion Show out of a whim,” said Lindley. “Now I feel like The Fashion Show is my own baby, my own organization.”

During his junior year, he joined The Fashion Show and was on the Design Committee.  He then became the Fashion Week Director and is now the PR and Marketing Director for this year’s show.

“I love being in control and controlling what direction The Fashion Show goes in,” said Lindley.

Lindley’s favorite moment was his first show he was involved in, where feelings of excitement and euphoria overcame him.

“I just remember the opening of the [2015] show when Black Skinhead [by Kanye West] started playing and curtains rose — it was such a bad-ass moment,” said Lindley.

Being one of the only men in his fashion classes and in The Fashion Show, Lindley takes pride in fighting gender norms and standing out from the crowd.

“Because of fashion in general, it takes away from gender norms — it becomes a voice versus who the person is saying it,” said Lindley.
