Iowa State’s softball team played one final game on Saturday to end its time in Fort Meyers, Florida at the Battle at the Beach tournament.

Iowa State (15-16) faced FGCU (16-13) on Saturday to finish its three days of play. The Eagles got off to a hot start, with one run in the first inning.

The Cyclones pushed back, however, as they tied the game 1-1 when Cathlin Bingham ran through home base thanks to an error made by FGCU.

The next few innings were a bit slower, as no runs were scored by either team. By the end of the sixth inning, though, the Cyclones were up 3-1 after a double steal and two errors by FGCU brought Talyn Lewis and Kaila Konz to score.

Within the seventh inning, the Cyclones earned two more runs while the Eagles earned one, resulting in a final score of 5-2.

The Cyclones will play next in Ames on Friday, March 24. They will face Texas Tech at the Cyclones Sports Complex at 4 p.m. This will be the Cyclones’ first home game of the season.
