The Iowa State women’s track and field team finished eighth at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday.

While the Cyclones struggled in the team standings, Iowa State athletes put up strong performances in middle-distance and field events.

Junior Christabel Okeke earned a bronze medal for the Cyclones in the weight throw Friday, recording a personal-best 62 feet 1.25 inches.

Jhoanmy Luque was the individual point leader over the two-day meet, scoring 20 points with first-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump.

Evelyne Guay and Jasmine Staebler provided sparks in middle-distance events, finishing second in the 1,000-meter and 800-meter events, respectively.

Baylor finished first at the meet with 129.5 points.
