The Cyclones were able to escape Fort Worth, Texas, unharmed in a game that was billed as a potential trap game.

Iowa State (15-4, 4-3 Big 12) was able to remain focused and take down Texas Christian (9-10, 1-6 Big 12) 73-60 despite the game being sandwiched between ‘Big Monday’ games against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 3 Kansas.

After beating No. 1 Oklahoma on Monday, it seemed like Iowa State might overlook the lowly Horned Frogs with their next three games being against top-10 teams.

Iowa State suffered a sluggish start, but was able to build up a nine point lead at the half. Iowa State held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half, but could never really pull away.

The Cyclones were riddled with turnover problems, which likely contributed to them being unable to pull away. Iowa State had 23 turnovers in the game.

TCU made it interesting down the stretch, cutting the lead to only 10 points with just under two minutes remaining. Iowa State would hold on with ease and win 73-60.

Monté Morris lead Iowa State with 18 points and six assists. Matt Thomas hit on 3-of-4 3-point attempts and had 15 points. Despite a rough shooting performance, Georges Niang scored 11 points and pitched five assists and five rebounds in a winning effort.

Iowa State will next be in action when No. 3 Kansas comes to town for another ‘Big Monday’ showdown.
