ISU football named redshirt senior quarterback Sam Richardson and redshirt junior linebacker Levi Peters captains for the 2015-16 season on Monday morning.

The decision was made following a team vote.

Richardson is coming off a season in which he broke the school record in completions with 254 along with this third-best school tally of 18 touchdown passes.

In fall camp, Rhoads said Richardson was improving his pocket presence and seems much more mature than at this time last season.

Peters, a Gilmore, Iowa, native, came to the team as a walk-on in 2012. He earned a scholarship following the 2014 season.

Peters played in two games last season and missed most of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon. He is the first underclassman to be named captain since James White in 2012.
